4. How We Share Your Information

We share your personal data only as necessary and with appropriate safeguards:

  • Network Operator Partners: Telecommunications providers in destination countries receive the technical data necessary to provision and activate your eSIM (ICCID, IMSI). These partners only process the minimal technical data required for connectivity and cannot access your account details, payment information, or browsing activity.
  • Payment Processors: Stripe, PayPal, Klarna, WeChat Pay, and other payment services process your payment transaction data. We do not store your full credit card details. Please review their respective privacy policies for information about their data handling.
  • Cloud and Infrastructure Providers: Hosting, data storage, and analytics services that support our platform operations. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest.
  • Customer Support Tools: Platforms used to manage support tickets, live chat, and email communications.
  • Legal and Regulatory: When required by law, court order, or government authority; or when necessary to protect our rights, property, or safety.
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to the same privacy protections.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for their own marketing purposes.

5. International Data Transfers

eSIM Cover operates globally. Your personal data may be transferred to, stored, and processed in countries outside your country of residence — including countries that may have different data protection laws than your jurisdiction. This includes transfers to our network partners in the countries where you use your eSIM.

For transfers from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland to countries not deemed to provide an adequate level of data protection, we implement appropriate safeguards, including Standard Contractual Clauses approved by the European Commission, to ensure your data receives an equivalent level of protection. You may request a copy of these safeguards by contacting us.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected:

  • Account data: Retained while your account is active and for up to 24 months after account closure, unless required longer for legal reasons
  • Order and transaction data: Retained for the duration required by tax and accounting laws (typically 7-10 years)
  • eSIM usage data (ICCID, data consumption): Retained for the active period plus 90 days for troubleshooting purposes
  • Support communications: Retained for 3 years after the last interaction
  • Marketing data: Retained until you withdraw consent or unsubscribe

When data is no longer required, we securely delete or anonymize it.

7. Data Security

We implement and maintain appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:

  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest
  • Access controls and authentication mechanisms
  • Regular security assessments and vulnerability testing
  • Employee training on data protection and confidentiality obligations
  • Incident response procedures and breach notification protocols

While we strive to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal data, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by applicable law.

8. Your Data Protection Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw previously given consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal
  • Right to Complain: Lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us. We will respond within 30 days (or the period required by applicable law). We may need to verify your identity before processing your request.

You can also manage your marketing preferences by clicking "unsubscribe" in any promotional email or adjusting your account notification settings.
